Northern California Leak Forgiveness Programs

     Leak Adjustments — Save on Your Water Bill Provided by The Leak Authority 

 

Many California water providers — including those in the Bay Area and Sacramento — will forgive or reduce an unusually high water bill if you can prove a leak has been repaired. Most providers require official documentation before granting an adjustment.

  1. General Leak Adjustment Policies
     
    • ●  Deadlines – Report leaks quickly; some utilities allow as little as 10 days from discovery
       
    • ●  Proof of Repair – Provide plumber invoices or receipts for parts
       
    • ●  Limits – Adjustments may be allowed only once every 12–36 months
       
    • ●  Usage Thresholds – Leak must show significant excess usage compared to normal
       
    • ●  Type of Leak – Concealed leaks often qualify for higher adjustments than visible leaks
